The school officially opened in December 1927-8 with eight classrooms and a gymnasium. It was the first high school in the Village of Islington and at the time 200 students were enrolled. The building’s multiple additions showed the growing need for more space as the township of Etobicoke became a city and student population increased. Etobicoke collegiate Institute now has 1000 students.
