There is conflicting historical information regarding Charles G. Fraser Junior Public School. According to the TDSB website, The school was founded in 1877 as Markham Street School. On the other hand, Manning Street used to be called Hope Street, and according to Robert G. Hill's Biographical Dictionary of Architects in Canada, Hope Street Public School was located at Manning and Robinson, which is the location of a small school building that existed on the site of the current school from 1880 until at least 1913 (as per fire insurance plans). This school was designed by Stewart & Denison.   The current school building was completed between 1913 and 1924 according to fire insurance plans.
