Notes:

This Queenston limestone officers' barracks is the only surviving structure of New Fort York, a British (later Canadian) military fort built half a mile west of the original Fort York in 1841. Fortifications around the new fort were designed but never constructed.

The British Army handed over New Fort York to the Canadian Militia in 1870 after Confederation. It was rechristened "Stanley Barracks" in 1893 in honour of then-Governor General Lord Frederick Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby and creator of the Stanley Cup, and remained a military institution until 1947. In the early 1950s, the fort's other six limestone structures were demolished. The remaining building has since served as the Marine Museum of Upper Canada, Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

In the early 2010s, Hotel X, which is located on the Stanley Barracks site, incorporated the excavation, archeological interpretation, and preservation of the foundations of the fort's demolished buildings into its development plan. The archeological and cultural heritage assessments were conducted by ERA Architects. As of 2019, the future use of the barracks is undecided. The building has been designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act since 1999.
