Palace Street was eventually renamed Front Street. the building is the oldest survivng public school building in the city.

The building is part of upcoming mixed-use development on the block to be known as the "Toronto Indigenous Hub." This building will be restored by ERA Architects and will eventually house retail on the ground floor and offices above.
