George Gray House
1299 Don Mills Road
Toronto
Banbury-Don Mills
Year Completed:
1893-1897
OTHER IDENTIFICATION
Notes:

Probably built in 1894, grist miller George Gray's North York farmhouse is a late 19th-century variation of the vastly popular Ontario Farmhouse. It blends many of the typology's Gothic Revial stylings with broad, round-headed Romanesque Revival windows. Today, it sits on Don Mills Road. Originally known as the Don Independent Road, this modern throughway began its life as the very first access route between Todmorden (Evergreen Brick Works) and York Mills. It was constructed by the Gray family in the 1850s.
